Like family, at PGC there are joys and sorrows, celebrations and disagreements, changes and things that stay the same.
Jones Shannon Final Flight West
It wasn’t but a couple weeks ago on a Tuesday, that Jones had enjoyed a glider flight at PGC. And then he took his Final Flight West a couple days later.
His family will be holding a visitation from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday May 20th at the R. L. Williams funeral home at 3440 Skippack Pike, Harleysville, PA.
Jones’s partner Karen will also be holding a celebration of life, which is tentatively being planned for some time in June. We will share more information when it becomes available.
Graduation from Highschool, and we all are invited!
From the parents of Julia and Noah:
We are excited to announce that Julia and Noah are soon to be High School Graduates. As PGC has been huge part of their aviation experience for the past couple of years it’s only fitting that we would like PGC family to be a part of the celebration. Please join us June 15th 3pm at PGC grounds.

PGC on the National Stage
Julia Karasinski and Lukas Furdal are currently competing in the Sports Class Nationals in Waynesville, OH. Looks like weather has been mixed, but will improve for the latter half of the contest.
Wish them luck and to a safe return with stories to tell.
A New Board member and VP
Mark Connelly has accepted to join the PGC board for the remainder of this term.
Jef Potters is stepping in as Vice President. As he put it so well: In memory of Jones!
Leadership at PGC
Running a volunteer operation is not that easy. Finding members/board members with the time to lead as President or VP for a couple years is becoming a challenge. A big reason to push for many committees has been to distribute the load across as many members as possible. If you have ideas or insights, how to further lighten the load, please reach out to me (Wolfgang).
Encampment July 15th-July 19th 2024
The highlight of our summer flying. One week of daily flying at PGC! Mark your calendar and look out for more details via email soon.
New Committee chair for our Grounds team needed
After many many years, Klaus will be stepping down as our Grounds committee chair the end of this season. This person’s primary role is to organize everything around keeping our runways mowed.
Please reach out to myself (Wolfgang) or Klaus, if you would consider this. Goal is to use this season as a transition period. And fear not, we have a good number of members pitching in with the mowing and other work.
Trailer spot in the South hangar available
PGC has a trailer spot available for rent in the South hangar for $500/year. Reach out to our secretary Beth Taylor, if you are interested.
