Spring Membership meeting
About 70 members were at the Spring Membership meeting. What a turnout. Thanks for all the cooks, presenters, and the great spirit of that morning.
Quick recap:
We are financially in good standing but need to address long deferred maintenance of our facilities. Below the link to a fantastic presentation our treasurer gave about the risks of fraud in smaller non-profits. And measures PGC has taken to mitigate them (need to be logged into website to view).

Wow has the season started
Easter Sunday was the first great soaring day of the season for PGC. Ben V and Phil L took full advantage of it. Not only topped they out at around 8000ft, Ben went well beyond Morgantown, then turned around and flew to Jersey, because, you know, it’s there… And all this in the Club Discus.

Cleaning Up
Huge Thanks to Alain D, Ludo A, Bob O, Dave J and Don C for removing brush and junk around the South hangar. A little cleaner every day!

You want Names?
Itching to get involved, but don’t know whom to turn to? Have a look in the directory below for all our committee chairs. (log into website to view)

You think having this many committees is excessive? Au contraire mon ami! The only way for PGC to function is to split up the work. I’m sure you’ll find something you’d enjoy doing and PGC needs.

Communications
How to stay in the know about PGC?

  • Via emails from soaringpgc@gmail.com. Make sure that address does not go to your Junk folder.
  • Text messages to your mobile phone number you entered into your user settings on our website.
  • Talking about website, it has a wealth of information, including the duty schedule, weather updates, extensive document library as well as an archive of this President’s column which acts as the monthly update of what is going on at the club
  • Discord Group “PGC” – yes, much used by gamers and recently in the news, but a good location to ask questions, keep in the loop about XC, weather etc.
  • Facebook – a closed group called “Philadelphia Glider Council Members”
  • Attend a board meeting, be at the club and talk to people…

Trailer spots for sale
Klaus Esser and Justin Shaw each have a trailer spot in the South hangar for sale. Asking price $6,000. Reach out to our secretary Michelle Wootton if interested.

What are you doing this summer?
Have you looked at hotel prices recently? Imagine you could stay close to home and enjoy your own 120 private acres with the most beautiful sunset in Buck County. Oh wait…
It’s flying season – come out and fly.
